Footstool Spike I was messing around in training mode practicing spikes, I found something very useful.
As soon as you perform a Footstool jump quickly do a down air. As we all know at the start of TL's down air it has spiking properties and with the footstool jump leaving your opponent vulnerable and at the right height it's a guaranteed spike.
Benefits: You don't die if you miss the footstool jump.
Cons: The footstool jump is quite hard to land
Notes: I have only tried it on Bowser, Pikachu and TL but with Bowser (needs complete testing on all characters). For Bowser you may just want to try a spike without footstool jump (he's a big enough target already
), Needs practice
Toon Link's Chain GrabOk while retesting the footstool spike . I decided to beat up the CPU Bowser. While doing this I noticed continuous back throws can make a chain grab. Like most chain grabs tis is temporary because eventually your opponent falls to the ground with a few invincibility frames
.
To do this you must do grab, back throw, turn, quick run, grab etc. This takes great timing and you must use the full length of the hook shot.
Benefits: Builds up a lot of damage quickly while you your opponent cannot attack.
Cons: Needs great timing, hard to master, if you miss or use hook shot when they get the invincibility frames it leaves you very vulnerable due to hook shot lag.
Notes: Needs a lot of practice, use you hook shots length to you advantage, after using this technique to get Pikachu from 0-63% one fully charged Forward Smash and Back swipe will KO Pikachu from the centre of final destination
. Also like the footstool spike it still needs complete testing currently I have only tested Pikachu and Bowser.
